Description:

Construction of gabion basket weir with trash rack in a natural waterway.

Scope of works:

DPTI engaged Davison Earthmovers to undertake work involving :

    Liaising with DPTI and ARTC to determine methodology to complete works in between train movements including establishment of plant and materials into a 30m deep valley accessible only from rail corridor.

    Removal of built up vegetation and debris from pipe entry
  • check
    Re-shaping the pipe inlet floor

    Installation of gabion rock matresses and overflow weir (total 300t of rock)

In order to achieve the required outcome an innovative method for establishment into the site was required involving:

    Helicopter lifting of earthmoving plant into and out of the valley floor.
  • check
    Use of geofabric slipway for establishment of gabion rock onto valley floor from elevated rail position.
  • check
    Coordination with DPTI equipment including use of hi-rail side tippers.

Use of rubber tyred excavator for access through rail corridor and placement of rock and other materials onto slipway
